Forward to the Future
NATCO embraces the JOBSCOPE edge to maintain its designation as a worldwide leader in design, manufacture, and service of process equipment and integrated systems for the oil and gas production industry.
NATCO has provided process equipment and system expertise to the oil and gas industry for over seventy years. They design, manufacture, and sell virtually every type of oil and gas process equipment and system from individual wellhead units to large fields production systems, onshore and offshore, around the world. As the largest fully integrated process equipment company in the oil and gas industry, NATCO is recognized as the leader in oil and natural gas process technology. NATCO has three manufacturing facilities and over forty locations worldwide. Over the past few years, NATCO has grown by acquiring several companies that fit their core offerings. They are still in acquisition mode.
NATCO has been utilizing JOBSCOPE since 1989. They are currently on the IBM Version 11 AS/400 platform. Over the past three years, NATCO's corporate Information Systems department located in Houston, Texas, has been very aggressive in taking advantage of the resources available to them. All of their remote locations access JOBSCOPE via a MCI Frame Relay Wide Area Network (WAN) or through the internet. Internet connectivity is being accomplished via dialup, DSL, cable modem, wireless and a dedicated UUNET connection to the internet. They have deployed Virtual Private Network (VPN) for more than half their remote locations to provide remote internet access. They will continue to embrace internet-based technologies to reduce data and voice communications cost.
The current AS/400 supports 135 concurrent users, and allows NATCO to utilize JOBSCOPE in a multi-national environment. Like many long time JOBSCOPE customers, they have had to perform certain modifications to address certain business requirements. During the summer of 1997, when IBM Version 11 was implemented, they were able to eliminate the majority of their modifications. When they implemented their Canadian facility in May of 1999, they were able to implement standard JOBSCOPE without any modifications. Other than some enhanced reporting that was copied from the US production side to the Canadian side, for the most part, it is standard JOBSCOPE.
Jobscope users form a worldwide community that actively works together to help each other move their companies forward. They learn from each other what "best practices" have been implemented along with unique ways of implementing the latest technologies. NATCO has been an active member and participant in Jobscope’s User’s Group for over 10 years.
